PLEASE NOTE:
After reviewing registration interest for the upcoming school year, we unfortunately do not have enough enrollment to continue offering the after school program next year. As a result, the program will not be running for the 2026–2027 school year.
We understand this may be disappointing news for some families, and we appreciate your understanding. We are grateful for the opportunity to have provided this program and for the support we have received from our school community.

The FRC’s vision is to be a support for all families in Portage la Prairie and the surrounding area. These programs came to fruition when collaboration with community partners indicated that there is a strong need for more afterschool care in our community.
After piloting the program and offering it in various schools, we have worked with community partners to be able to continue offering the program for the 2025-2026 school year in the following ways:
· SITE 1: Koko Platz Recreation Centre for EAM and CVS students who are capable of walking with our staff from the school to the site.
· SITE 2: Outreach Centre for youth living near 11th Street NW (this program is free thanks to Raffi Foundation Funding and runs Tuesday-Thursday afterschool until 5pm)
Our Afterschool programs have adopted a curriculum which focuses on how to be a “Global Citizen” based on the following guidelines:
In our programming we strive to provide a variety of experiences that foster cognitive, creative, social, emotional, and physical development as well as opportunities to develop communication skills, self-regulation, decision-making, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork through structured and unstructured play (i.e., structures games vs. playground time).
To help bridge the childcare gap for parents the FRC also offers PD Day Camps ($25/day) and Summer Camp options ($100/week) as we know Stride Day Camps does not offer enough spaces for our community’s need.

Professional development (PD) day camps are held from 8:30 am-4:30 pm at a cost of $25/day per child (meals & snacks are not included).
These are held in partnership with Portage Regional Recreation Authority (PRRA) and all PD day camps are held at Stride Place. You can register and pay for all upcoming PD days. Registration and payment is done through the PRRA website.
Upcoming PD Days are:
